Who I Am

My name is Gerrit Fricke and I have been a hobby photographer for more than 20 years from Berlin, Germany. I started this blog because I wanted to tinker with my new Raspberry Pi as my little home server and at the same time like the idea to have a self created homepage instead of just an account in one of the big social networks where everybody nowadays wants to share his or her personal life with us.

Since my father gave me his Praktica IV with an Pentacon 50 1.8 lens I started to get passionate about photography. In 2008 I went digital when I bought my first digital SLR camera – an Olympus E-410. I liked this camera because of its small form factor and very good image quality. The next logical step was the jump onto the Micro Four Thirds wagon with small camera bodies and lenses and a more than satisfying image quality. Camers like the Olympus OM-D E-M5 and E-M1 are so nice to handle and to shoot with that besides the wonderful image results it is just a joy to take photos with them. For photo nuts like me using the camera gear and the process of taking the images is at least as important and joyful as watching the final result.

So make a long story short, expect me to write about photography and even more important show photography. I am not the hardware testing guy, there are countless sites with tests and howTos, but I will show my results and now and then explain a little bit the story behind it.

As a side note: I am not a native English speaker but I want to run this site in English to give you the opportunity to understand my writing. So please just overread my English mistakes. 😉
